Cancelling An Appointment
In common with GP practices throughout the Scotland have a small but significant number of patients who fail to turn up for their appointments. In Banchory, currently up to 150 patients fail to attend an appointment with one of our GP's or nurses each month.
Of course we can understand that we can all forget things at times and no one is infallible! However, we would ask you to please try and let us know if you want to cancel or rearrange your appointment, however late, as someone else will almost certainly fill it. You can either do this in person, by phone, email or letter.
Those patients who fail to turn up twice in a row will receive a letter from our manager reminding them of their obligations.
Breakdown of appointment types
routine appointments for GP’s and nurses are available up to two months in advance e.g. use these for review of chronic problems, specific nurse clinics
short notice appointments are made available on a frequent basis to provide for problems needing more urgent assessment e.g. sudden illness, injuries
emergency appointments are assessed on a daily basis by telephone, appointment or by a home visit
Our receptionists are trained to ask for brief details of your request which can be helpful to our doctors and nurses in helping to prioritise an urgent request for an appointment.
